MAYASA and the Almadén FOUNDATION collaborate in the 23rd Industrial and Mining Week - Heritage of Mercury. Almadén and Idrija, organised by the Almadén Industrial and Mining Engineering School from the University of Castilla-La Mancha

The Almadén Industrial and Mining Engineering School held the Industrial and Mining Week, which in its 23rd edition took the title Heritage of Mercury. Almadén and Idrija. The centre selected this theme after Almadén, in the last month of June, along with the city of Idrija in Slovenia, was declared World Heritage by the UNESCO thanks to the rich heritage of this mineral that they house in their mines.

To this end, and after the inauguration act for the activity under the charge of EIMIA director, Francisco Mata, the mayor of Almadén, Carlos Jesús Rivas, and the Deputy President of MAYASA, Jesús Arambarri, the guest speakers explained how and why both Almadén and Idrija are industrial mining heritage.

In the two following sessions, the speakers referenced the Almadén mine's heritage, formed by the Almadén Mining Park and the city of Idrija itself, whose mines were the second world-wide producers of mercury for a long while, after Almadén's mines. Also worthy of attention was the forgotten heritage of Almadenejos and the workshops finished off by presenting the Almadén City Hall's heritage, city planning and cultural plans.

This company belongs to the SEPI Group, a company holding that holds a total of 18 public companies in a direct and majority fashion, with a staff of more than 80,000 professionals, the Radiotelevisión Española Corporation, in which it holds competencies, and a monitored public foundation. In the same fashion, SEPI has direct minority stakes in another seven companies, and indirect stakes in more than one hundred companies.
