The Mining Park of Almaden is integrated into the European Route of Industrial Heritage

The Mining Park of Almaden has been integrated into the European Route of Industrial Heritage, ERIH, as Anchor Point or reference place. European Route of Industrial Heritage is the main European tourist information network, which is created to spread its industrial heritage. Currently it includes more than 1,000 places in 44 European countries, among these places there are 80 Anchor Points. In Spain there were only two other places with the same qualification, but none of them corresponded to mining heritage. These places are the main route of the ERIH.

The Anchor Points are places of exceptional historical importance in terms of industrial heritage, which offer a high quality experience to their visitors. They are the best references of European industrial heritage. Consideration of a place in this category is a real seal of quality which guarantees visitors a pleasant and interesting visit.

The integration process of Mining Park of Almaden has taken some time, it had to be necessary the visit and the report of a council member of the association that would guarantee the authenticity of the place, the attractiveness and quality of the experience about the selection criteria. In the case of The Mining Park of Almaden, the Prof. Massimo Preite, of Department of Architecture of the University of Florence supported the proposal.
